In Israel, you can buy a Sephardic Tallit down the block at your local Judaica shop, but in many parts of the world, the Sephardic Tallit selection may be scanty. We’re here to fix that.
Beit Yosef Tallit
My personal favorite is the Beit Yosef Tallit, which is made entirely of wool – including the corner reinforcements and the atara (neckband). (On high-end tallits, the corners are made of wool, but a wool atara is unheard of.) The Beit Yosef Tallit is made of a cream-colored fabric treated to resist stains. The dense weave has a unique pattern that lends the Beit Yosef Sephardic Tallit a subtle refinement and sets it apart from other wool tallits.
Prima A.A. Sephardic Tallit
The Prima A.A. is a traditional tallit gadol with a quality weave. Available with black, white with satin-colored stripes or blue stripes.
The Prima A.A. comes with machine-spun tzitzit tied according to the standard tying custom, but the Sephardic tzitzit custom is available if you choose the hand-spun tzitzit option, including thin, thick, techelet, etc. The Prima A.A. offers great value in a quality wool tallit.
Super Prima Sephardic Tallit
This wool tallit has a airy weave that gives the tallit body for those who want to feel the tallit on their shoulders. The Super Prima also comes with various tzitzit options.
Chatanim Sephardic Tallit
If you are looking for a Sephardic tallit in white on white, start your search on our White Tallit page. The truth is that just as some Ashkenazim don’t want a black-on-white tallit, some Sephardim don’t want to go with a white-on-white tallit. That’s one of the reasons why we are glad to tie Sephardic tzitzit on any tallit we sell.
Sephardic Tzitzit Tying
What makes a tallit a “Sephardic tallit” just as much as the striping is the tzitzit, and we’re set up to tie tzitzit according to the Sephardic tzitzit custom (either 10-5-6-5 or 7-8-9-11) on any tallit we sell, including our handmade tallits.
Sephardic Tallit Katan
Generally speaking, Sephardic Jews do not wear tzitzit on a cotton garment, but stick with wool. Every wool tallit katan we sell is available with an option for white stripes and tzitzit tied according to the Sephardic tzitzit custom.
