For at least a decade the Chatanim Tallit was a luxurious, durable, top-of-the-line tallis manufactured by Mishkan Hatchelet. At first the white-striped version became scarce, and I kept waiting for a new production line, that never happened.

Top Quality Wool Tallit
The Chatanim – Longstanding classic

When I first learned it was being discontinued, I was astonished. After asking Mishkan Hatchelet management I learned that their product development team was looking forward and betting that your next tallit is going to be a textured, “nonslip” weave like HaMefoar or Tashbetz. (The Talitania tallit equivalents are Malchut and David.)

The Chatanim was known as Tallit Hameshubach outside of Israel.

The Chatanim featured a high-density weave, whiteness retention, stain resistant fabric and stiff wool corners designed to keep tzitzit hanging down from the edges. HaMefoar has many of those features, the main innovation being it’s textured fabric, which has a supple feel and is designed to help keep the tallit in place on your shoulders.

And it’s a good value. You get a very high quality tallit at an affordable price.
