The boxes of Tefillin Dakkot are more durable than Tefillin Peshutim Mehudarim, and Dakkot Ohr Echad differ from Dakkot in that they are covered with an additional one-piece layer of leather, in accordance with halachic opinions that otherwise they are not considered a single piece of hide. They are also slightly larger than Tefillin Peshutim and Tefillin Peshutim Mehudarim.
